generall poll:Thoughts on the smell of benzene

Personally, I really don't enjoy the smell. It seems kind of sickeningly sweet. Though some people think it's nice.

On a side note, cancer.

Prepublication? Come on man. Also, why not post a poll, with your poll?

Benzene isn't too bad. I actually prefer it over many solvents, though I don't make a habit of inhaling.it. Cancer and all.

I agree . . .I quite like it, having only smelt it once whilst preparing it. Same goes for chloroform.

Shift this out of prepublications and add a proper poll will radio buttons.

its always a matter of preferances...
i dont mind it, neither do i mind the smell of gasoline or manure, or dead body. (animals etc..)
only the smell of milk and vomit makes me unconfortuble.

but again , its all very bias and subject to everyone's taste...

Inner tubes were once used in nearly all tires and benzene was the solvent used for the rubber cement used to apply patches to repair punctured tires which also punctured the inner tube. So the smell of benzene was a familiar perfume for every traveller at the time of fixing a flat, the fragrant blossom announcing that presently the stranded would be back on the road again. It was the sweet smell of victory prevailing over inconvenient misfortune :D .....and it may be sometimes mingled with the smell of ethyl going into the tank of a nearby car, punctuated by the ammonia and detergent smell of windex of a windshield being cleaned. The sound of bell would signal the arrival of the next vehicle driving across a rubber hose, the puff of air from the hose would ding the bell summoning the attendant, from the office .....interrupting the watching of a baseball game, he would leave his chair temporarily to tend the next customer, and afterwards return to the game in black and white, in a room colored by the smell of a cigar and roasted peanuts.
Children at mischief would stomp the rubber hose to chime the signal bell as a "made you look" and roll away on a newly
inflated bicylce tire ....fifty cents poorer for the experience.

Benzene? Smells like some kind of plastics burning. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being horrific odour, 10 being an orgasmic delight :D), I'd say benzene is at 4th place, at least for me.

Benzene does smell nice, but can you really get a cancer from a short term exposure???

naw come on! the body is more capable than usually giving credit for...
smelling benzen once or twice will not harm you.

its always best to be expose to a large amount of toxic once that a small amount everyday. the body can repare the damage done from a one time exposure not from a cumulative effect over several years
