to go to bed for shcool tomarow and I have a headache fit for a......I dunno. Is there any cure, anything at all to cure a nitro headache??? Help?
On the bright side I now have 60g of nice neutral NG. I mean in my dream...

The best thing would be caffine, drink coffee or Coke or similar and just bare with it, over time you should become immune to it. unfortnatly the
caffine will also stop you from going to sleep but it might be worth it to get rid of the headache.

Take something that will knock you out. I find that rest is the best medicine for a headache, I don't care what causes it. Caffine is only a
temporary solution. It will make your headache worse in the long run.

iirc It gives you headaches because it's a vasodilator - it dilates blood vessels. This dilation causes the headaches. Caffeine is a
vasoconstrictor and drinking coffee therefore counter-acts the effects of the NG. A simplified explanation - I suspect someone else will come up with
a far more detailed one in due course.
I get headaches regularly enough without resorting to sniffing NG...think I must be allergic to something

Yes. People prone to angina carry it. Do remember that using Viagra and exposure to nitro-esters are absolutely contraindicated. You could go into
shock and die.

The nitroglycerine, when in the body, has metabolysis products of nitrous oxide, laughing gas. This is what causes the blood vessels in the brain to
swell.
On the psuedo-topic of viagra, I remember seeing an erection cream that contained some small percent nitroglycerine. It makes sence and all...with
the whole 'swelling blood vessel' thing.

It sounds silly, but try going outside and running. You're probably thinking, "How the heck should I run with a headache??" But, from
experience with frequent migraines (which, if I recall correctly, are similar to Nitro-headaches in that they are the result of vasodilation), I find
a bit of outdoor exercise can make them go away--at least somewhat. If nothing else, just go to sleep and try to relax. Get an ice pack to try
dulling the pain. DO NOT drink alcohol, that will make things extremely painful. Caffeine varies--sometimes it has helped me, sometimes it has made
me feel worse. Hope you feel better, and we can all learn something from this discussion.

Well I got through the night....barely. Took until midnight to fall asleep. I have been making NG for a while now and I became immune to it about 2
months ago. I stoped making NG about 1 month ago and just made more yesterday. Made 60g and wasn't very careful not to get it on my hands or
inhale the fumes.
That was by far THE worst headache I have ever had! Pain was felt in my back, neck, eyes, jaw, and temple region. I've dealt with broken bones
better than that. The vodka had to have made it so bad. It helped while I was drunk but after.... NEVER again!

Caffiene helped mine, but barely. Mine were really intense for about an hour but then I'd have a dull thud for at least 24 hours afterwards
which was the worst part of it. I would've drank coffee but I can't stand it so I just drank coke like crazy and stayed up playing nintendo
until four.
You should also never take asprin while you have a nitro headache because it thins the blood and your blood vessels are already wide open so it just
makes things worse.

IIRC, it's absorbed through the skin as well as breathing the fumes.

Wow that sounds nasty. This is the main reason, other than lacking the chemicals, that I'm afraid to try making NG. When you're more afraid
of NG giving you headaches, than blowing you up, it shows just how much experience a person has had with headaches.
My idea for a simple lab, suitable for NG, would be something like this: a large square enclosure built into the wall of a building (most likely an
old shed). The front end would be open, for access to the work area. The rear would connect to the outside of the building via a large box fan or two.
The fan(s) would be installed in such a way as to make sure that all air (and fumes) only flow in one direction through the work area - outside. A
smoke-making machine would be used to test the setup for air leaks. As for dealing with NG or other nasty chems contacting your skin, I think this is
what rubber gloves were invented for!
I wondered if fumes would possibly corrode or destroy a fan, but chances are the air/fumes would be passed much too quickly through the fan, to do
it any harm.
I probably won't have a chance to build such a setup in the near future, but I'd certainly prefer it to a kitchen table, or a work bench
in my basement/garage.
Look forward to any comments on this idea.

adequate ventilation
I think you have the right idea. I don't plan to work with any noxious or potentially noxious vapors unless I feel certain I will not receive a
harmful exposure. This means either working in the open with a slight breeze, or perhaps better yet, in a room or fume hood with positive (fan
powered) removal of gases/vapors. I wouldn't worry too much about the fan blade material - that can always be replaced.
Another option would be to have a respirator rated to absorb the gases expected. Better yet would be use of a supplied air device such as SCBA.

Could be dead
Just ran across this board. I don't know why you were making NTG but you could be dead if you got enough of a dose. NTG is a potent vasodilator
which is why you got a HA, very similar to a migraine.
As a nurse, I always wear gloves if I handle NTG. The poster that said to go outside was on the right track-if it was cold. It would help constrict
your vessels. You could have stuck your head in the freezer or taken migraine medicine (not make it).
Sorry to be abrupt, but if you play w fire you gotta be ready to be burned. Please be careful. If you have no real reason to handle this
stuff-don't! HL

That's interesting.
I remember reading about cold receptors (in Nature last year), and how they act. Chemical triggers of the cold receptor (which is normally set off
by cold) are compounds such as menthol.
Now I wonder... would administering menthol help the matter? It should act as a vasoconstrictor, just like normal cold does.
Just a thought
(or how about nicotine, caffeine? Caffeine was mentioned above I believe. Both have the same effect... vasoconstriction)

I haven't seen him around either, but a while ago (months) someone with a username I can't remember asked me via U2U if I didn't
"recognize him". It was in the context of a discussion of the sort I used to bash Iggy in. Probably insignificant, but mentionable...

And the CIA is concerned people are using nitroglycerin to make explosives....
Hell no, ones making buttcream out of it and the other one's sniffing it like coke...
