Limiting the mass of explosives


Does anyone have a report on the sailor hat explosion where 500 tons of TNT were blown up? Or reports of similar large explosions? It is the location of the detonators that interests me.

Some people believe that the same TNT stops detonating if it is more than 2000 kg (that is, only 70% will conditionally explode). I sent them the sailor hat tests, where 500 tons of TNT were detonated. But in the end, I received a claim that probably every 15 kg checker had a fuse. And it didn't work out to throw off books on the physics of the explosion to them, they don't understand them

I agree, I am not sure if any of anyone here will ever manufacture that much TNT (especially using home lab setups!) to ever do that.

But I find that an interesting. I realize that very large explosive devices not only have strong booster charges (sometimes multiple) but I figure that having multiple detonators would also make sense.
