My snyder column isn't making a noise
So I like my snyder column for fractional distillation, i've used i for ethanol and also getting pentane and hexane from petrol. It is nice to hear
it tinckling away as the glass globes move up and down.
Well i'm distilling patio and brick cleaner (now only sold at 10% hcl) and pulling put some 20% azeotroic hydrochloric acid. Everything is going fine
but probably due to the viscosity of the liquid the balls and not jumping around.

Makes sense, water has a much higher surface tension that would need to be broke vs solvent. I've never used a Snyder column for anything but
organics so I can't say for sure. Usually though I only hear the music in the beginning, once the wells around the balls fills up at least on my
column it mutes it somewhat.
