mechanism of sodium dithionite aromatic nitro reduction?
Hi all,
I'm aware that sodium dithionite can reduce nitrobenzene derivatives to the corresponding aniline. I'm struggling to find a mechanism though? I'd
love to see something like an electron pushing diagram showing how the transformation of Ar-NO2 => Ar-NH2. Can someone point me to a reference or
perhaps explain it here if it's relatively concise?
Thank you!

Pretty complex mechanism as far as I could see, uses a sulfur nitrogen bond as the intermediate.
There wasn't a fire, we just had an uncontrolled rapid oxidation event at the power plant.
