Agilent Autosampler Computer Control

I have a PL AS RT Autosampler but no control software. I think one can control it with the Agilent GPC/SEC software and there probably is an older software called "PL instrument control software" which I could not find.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a copy of this software for free?

Alternatively, I already figured out the parameters of the serial port to be:

  • Baud = 19200
  • Data = 8 Bit
  • Stop = 1
  • Parity = None

The console is in ASCII with CR at the end of each line. No bootup message appears but I could trigger several Errors in the form of "ERR(00)". The device reboots when "=" is send as command. Has someone an idea which commands I should try?

I'd be a little surprised if Agilent's software will drive Varian's kit.

In the manual it says "Please note that Varian, INC. is now part of Agilent Technologies." and the same autosampler is afaik still sold as part of the GPC 50+ system under the brand Agilent together with aforementioned software.

Or am I overlooking something? :o
