Synthesis of Pigments For Oil Paints
I'm working on synthesizing the Prussian Blue (iron (III) hexacyanoferrate (II)) pigment and making an oil paint with it to gift to my friend. What
other pigments would be good and easy to produce in a home lab?

Thank you for the links, I probably should've searched further before asking though. I think I might want to try cupric acetylsalicylate now and I
thought about copper (I) oxide then I remembered it would probably just oxidise. Cinnabar is really cool too but I'm too afraid to work with mercury
just yet. What procedures have you thought about for it?

there are a lot of oxides that make white paint, most notably TiO2, ZnO. Iron oxides can make red or black. Chromium oxide is a kinda sickly green.
Cobalt and nickel oxide are similar. The list could go on and on.

Barium sulfate is another good white pigment, iron oxides can give you all sorts of browns depending on the method used, copper(II) phosphate makes a
great light blue, and you can get some lovely and saturated pink and purple pigments with cobalt, as you can see from my post in this thread:

nawaf, there are a ton of threads around here so don't worry about it. Unlike most forums though you can necro a thread from 10 years ago and no one
bats an eye, chemistry is pretty consistent like that. If you want to search the forum though don't bother with the search function above, just

Anyway, paint pigments are one of the few chemical creations I think you could artisanally craft in your basement and still sell for a decent price.
I'm quite fond of the cadmium sulfide / selenide series myself but those are pretty hazardous to be messing with. At least when you mull them you
could do it with the oil already in there to act as an anti-dusting process.
