Stirrer timer bypassing?

My overhead stirrer has ordinary 0-120min clicking type timer tab that is needed to be used to power the stirrer. I have currently just put a clamp to the wheel to stop it from rotating, allowing for unlimited time.

Why are these timers implemented? They are just annoying, as one would need overnight stirrings or longer than 2h. What'd be the neatest way to bypass it without breaking anything?

I'd open it up and bridge the contacts on the timer with a bit of wire of the same gauge as what's already leading into/out of it. And solder it on - if the unit ever needs put back to factory condition just snip out the bridge.
