platinum crystal growing

Has anybody an idear how they've been growing such an platinum crystal:

http://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.o...:Platinum-crystals.jpg&h=752&w=752&sz=145&tbnid=-_gGR4fbqBHTdM:&tbnh=141&tbnw=141&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dplatinum%2Bcrystals&a mp;zoom=1&q=platinum+crystals&hl=de&usg=__pGCG11mdZhuMzNGtsKQO7h33OOU=&sa=X&ei=M5NOTc6mA8XKswaR9r2SDQ&ved=0CCoQ9QEwAQ

especially the right one?
I've tried it electrochemically, got noething but black platinum powder on the cathode, as expexted.
I read that the decomposition of PtCl4 would lead into the formation of very small Pt crystals, 0,001 mm in diameter.

Searched on espacenet for an suitable patent and got noething, just a chinese patent describing the growth of platinum crystals for an methanol cell, only the introduction was in english, the rest in chinese.

There is a patent for the process. But it is my friend who grows them, and he has put significant work into refining/perfecting his growth technique- all I can say is GOOD LUCK! :P
