Thermochromic derivatives of crystal violet


While looking for some interesting dyes I could synthesize with the materials I have and found a note on thermochromic derivatives of crystal violet. It may be of interest to others.

I am wg48 but not on my usual pc hence the temp handle.
Thank goodness for Fleming and the fungi.

I wounder if sulfonepthaleins are thermochromic.

Here is a synthesis of phenolsulfonephthalein (and some related dyes) it uses saccharine that is very OTC.
