1. with the solution of MnO2 + H2SO4 and Toluene, will the iron sulphate precipitate upon toluene addition as well?
2. in the procedure given by gsd, adding H2O2 dropwise, will the iron contaminants stay precipitated and the MnSO4 will stay in solution?
3. and with the citric acid addition, will there be any precipitate, iron maybe? (will it stay in solution mixed with the manganese ions?)

Hi,
I am now manufacturing manganese (ii) sulphate 1-hydrate using MnO and MnO2.
With MnO2, I mixed MnO2, H2SO4 96% and H2O2 50% until a pink solution is obtained. The solution then was filtered and a clear pink solution was
obtained. I concentrated it until some solid was formed. Then, I cooled it down, filter the solution with a sintered funnel and dried.
With MnO is much easier and the solution filtered much better.
However, I want to obtain bigger particles of MnSO4 1-hidrate, but I am unable to obtain. I was thinking of concentrating under vacuum with less
temperature, but I don't think i'll obtain something bigger.
Do you know another way to obtain crystals instead of a pink powder?

Time (a lot), seeding, and not disturbing.
Dissolve the salt you obtained in enough boiling water. If all dissolved, keep it boiling until the first salts appear.
Let it cool and let it stand one week undisturbed.
If cristallized, filter it. take by hand (tweezers) 3-4 cristals. The big ones.
If your original MnSO4 was pure enough:
Add the NOT choosen filtered cristalls and mix with the filtrate until dissolved. If possible do not add more liquid. Heat it for better dissolution.
Do not remove water by boiling, the heat is for dissolution.
Let it cool to room temperature.
Add the seeding cristals. wait and do not disturb.
You can grow the cristals further as long as you have a more or less saturated solution and using seeding cristals.
here is a video were you can get ideas
