I noticed a lot of girls studying chemistry at the university. I mean, the majority! Perhaps they are less drawn to DIY chemistry? I'm not sure at
all.
You like like a 1900's era scientist there
PS: I admire your well organized table. Far better than mine.

Mind that chemistry is something of the "science credit for the humanities wusses" class. At least, the lowest levels -- uh, I suppose you'd be
speaking of higher level classes though?
Something like 60% of college these days is female... probably speaks to the feminine rights movement junk and wage disparity.

Its about 50/50 up here in my more advanced chem courses. And the grad student ratio is around that as well, but perhaps a little slanted to the male
side.
I have talked to many people about home chemistry, I have gotten 3 males interested, and one female. Unfortunatly 2 of the guys live in residence so
one of them is waiting till he is out to start wheras the other just goes out on the front steps and does stuff. The other guy and the girl are in
the starting a lab stages. They have all been linked here, some may have joined, not sure.
People in the chemistry field here is pretty mellow about home experimentation, only one is really against it, many are 'as long as you are safe' or
just indifferent and a couple are 'Holy, you remind me of the good old days'.
Descriptive astrophysics or something like that is the course for the wussy artsies here. No calculations or lab.

Well, at least there are some girls here. Either that, or guys pretending to be girls.
Actually, I just posted to test if my signature is working...

I'm not a communist, I enjoy freedom, and not sharing the money I have worked for, and deserve. I also want more freedom, and less tax. I think people
should take care of themselves.
It is interesting to note that not nearly as many females are interested in science as men are. I think it has a lot to do with whatever causes men to
be left handed more often, and have asperger syndrome and autism more often as well. I guess testosterone may play a big roll. I know it does with
left-handedness anyways, and people with on the autism spectrum are more commonly left handed then a random sample.

"Well, at least there are some girls here. Either that, or guys pretending to be girls."
Not to mention, that there some extra-terrestrials here, who are pretending to be humans.
You can only imagine how puzzled I am, er.....I mean THEY are, by this whole discussion.

In view of the Caster Semyana affair in South Africa, I wonder if there are any hermaphrodites here.

Girls have a slightly more social tendency.. maybe we just don't have the time to displace the social scene for DIY chem... but to me, chem comes
first and foremost!

Yeah, but what good is a 14/20 stopper to a 24/40 receiving flask?

Maybe the ladies' outlooks are guided by thousands of generations of evolution that favors them paying attention to myriad things that will usher the
next generation into life. They may not put as much emphasis on it now, but their hard wired characteristics will manifest themselves. Men on the
other hand can get by sometimes with only a few minutes of invested time, and can be off to other matters, like sharpening sticks, or knapping flints.
We are a product of our past.

We should find another DIY science forum, perhaps pertaining to physics or biology or earth science, and see what the results are there.
