Unfortunately, that addon doesn't download YouTube videos(Google's terms), and oin that page, it states that some of the programs may contain
malware...

Today in 18:50 I am get second warning, because my next two videos are dangerous. And it yet, that both videos was in private mode. Even 24 hours
before. Delete next two videos, I estimate, send do it robots. Which no different between open and close videos for personal use only. Therefore is
good watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkVXsMtE2UQ
and comunication with youtube admin.

Your private videos were flagged? Is that even possible?

This would have to be a good-size group of people devoting significant time to systematically flag so many disparate videos. Is there any evidence of
a publicly-coordinated attack on YouTube science? This seems more like the kind of work someone would have to be paid to do, the question is: Who's
paying? Why?
It works in Firefox. If it doesn't in Chrome, "dang" indeed.
Everything you download "may contain malware". I'm surprised it says that, as Wikipedia has a policy against disclaimers like that in articles.

On Linux and Windows, there is an open source program called youtube-dl which runs standalone from the browser. I've used it in the past without any
fuss.

Good news: In VIMEO conditions for content record videos is NOT even one words explosive. Explosives education restricted and similarly. Only general
word harmful. But it can be anything. But restricted pornography. However VIMEO is liberty for erotic works........Dr.

I have little interest in EM and so am not directly affected here. But what bugs me is the sudden and arbitrary nature of it all. The system is full
of inconsistencies when those things that are truly stupid or truly dangerous abound on YT and are even encouraged. But those who are systematically
exploring and sharing the science are sanctioned simply because a search-bot can spell "bang".
All it takes is for someone to take a similar stance on another branch of chemistry and great swathes of excellent educational material disappears.
NileRed has already had one strike. Suppose hydrazine gets tagged and he gets two more. the whole channel is deleted. And many like it. (Ok there
aren't many as good as NileRed. And that is kind of the point -- it is the good stuff that gets targeted and the dumb stuff is allowed to
proliferate.)
And for the YT heavyweights like King of Random to get preferential treatment is just hypocritical.

One fix to the problem of loosing all that valuable knowledge is to make a section on science madness where we can
store the videos so that members can watch them. We have a library for scientific literature why not have a library for videos, maybe get some of the
youtubers like Nile Red, Explosionpedia, and other youtubers to mabye join the fourm and place their videos there where they will be safe(or at least
safer

Possibly because a picture's worth a thousand words, and a YouTube video has at least 24 pictures (frames) per second plus audio. Which is to say,
they take up a lot more storage space than text does. Though it's possible I don't know what I'm talking about and I definitely don't know where and
how exactly information on the forum is stored.

Storage would definitely be an issue when it comes to saving videos. I assume the admins would probably have to place ads(I think though the software
they use might not be compatible—and most of us use some form of AdBlock anyway) or some form of fee/subscription which in the end might not even be
feasible or worth it. And then there's the issue of copyright...which is a huge blow to the odds of the idea working successfully, making them very
slim.

It might be as simple as a shared Google Drive or similar. Established users can apply for access the same as we request access to the References

Along with other people,I have twice now flagged the TKOR video he has on nitrogen triiodide as a little test and it still remains. It is totally
bullshit how YT can remove so many other
Videos yet keep this one. He clearly instructs viewers how to make it and use it. I think it is in breach if their community guidelines but they
still have it up. I guess that well known established you tubers are above the rules.....

Another good little test would be for a YouTuber to replicate TKOR's nitrogen triiodide video, word for word, even using similar camera angles and see
how long it remains on their channel. I'm betting not very long

I had the same idea, but hesitated to suggest it
’cause I'm not a "YouTuber". Seems like a lot of work to make a video just for it to get taken down (obviously save a copy somewhere else, and some
screenshots or screencaps of the video while it's on YouTube), but black-and-white proof like this might be enough to interest mainstream media. Worth
a shot to protect the remaining chemistry videos on YouTube.
Incidentally, a video posted the other day (on YouTube and here) not unlike Thompson's videos on Armstrong's mix is still up as of now.

Maybe an idea would be to put videos on YouTube without explicite title or text below (or only very complex misleading (al)chemical name or unusual
accronym)and only set the explicit text here into this forum with links to there...
--> so YouTube will not be able to use bots to tag videos and the video will not be findable by searching Tools or by external SMF users.
--> Science Madness Forum will not be impacted by the size and weight of the videos because decentralized.
Another idea is that each video poster use a personal decentralized and tolerant blog for its videos so YouTube has no ruling on it...only you has a
word to say.

The WAR
Very good advice from Philou. It is good in the settings for each video indicate nothing. Next thing is not use youtube editor. The text from editor
( in video) , it can read (search) even Google. It is necessary to upload your own video as a whole. But the same applies to comments under the
video. War against robots started. Hmm.. I seems, that Sarah O´Connor will be near.....LL

Exactly. If they take down the video because of "Fire", then try to claim copyright infringement, it will expose their flaws and hypocrisy. Basically,
we're counting on their automation and stupidity. Using different music, a different voice, and all-original footage (no copying directly from TKOR's
videos) should be enough to fool the copyright-bots. It will be tricky to make it both similar and different enough, so a veteran YouTuber may need to
volunteer, and Tdep probably shouldn't do it (since he already has a video ranting about this problem).

YouTube deletes my video on making black powder
I was very frustrated when I received an email from YouTube during my vacation. It told me that my video on making gunpowder/black powder had been
deleted and a strike was placed against my account because the video "violated the community guidelines". In this video I simply demonstrated how I
make black powder with my homemade ball mill. I then performed two burn tests, and finished up by showing a firecracker made with the powder. I did
not show how I made the firecracker! YouTube's guidelines do not allow users to post videos on "bomb-making" (such a nebulous definition of a wide
topic range). I am angry because I did not make a "bomb" (again such a nebulous word for this subject). I made a small firecracker that was similar in
power to commercially available firecrackers. As stated earlier, I did not show how I made the firecracker. My video did not violate the guidelines. I
appealed to YouTube and told them that. I also told them that black powder is easily available in sporting goods stores for muzzle-loading firearms.
It is not as if I was giving a tutorial on producing some actual explosive like TATP, EGDN, or the like. YouTube rejected my appeal. Ironically, they
have not touched my video that demonstrates the properties of MEKP, which is a real explosive. In that video I did not show how I made the MEKP, but
with their logic they should take that one down as well.
I have noticed that other videos on pyrotechnics and explosives are being taken down as well. For example, a very interesting channel named
"Explosiopedia" was completely taken down a couple weeks ago. This was about the same time my video was deleted. Explosiopedia also did not show how
to make the explosives used in his videos. All he did was demonstrate their properties. YouTube is taking these videos down under the guise of
"preventing terrorism". I think that terrorism should be prevented whenever possible, but is YouTube/Google really so naive as to think that censoring
amateur chemistry videos like mine will stop terrorism? The wikipedia page on black powder still exists. Unless they censor the information in all
places it appears on the internet their efforts are pointless... Maybe I am being a bit overreactive. I am just freaked out that a giant organization
like Google is starting to censor informative videos from the public. Where does it end? Anyone else have any thoughts on this matter?

One thing to remember in all of this is that Youtube is free to use.
If something is free, that means that the user is the product. In terms of economics, the customer is the advertisers and they are selling you as the
product.
This means that there is no incentive for them to be reasonable, fair, equitable or even respond to complaints - unless those complaints come from
paying advertisers. It also means that a high-volume channel like TKOR is a valuable commodity to YouTube and worth protecting. Whereas
Joe-average-backyard-chemist is essentially worthless.
For the sake of YT's marketing it has to be seen to be taking a stand against "terrorism" and other disapproved activities. But again, this is
economics. It has nothing to do with any actual threat.
For the sake of comparison, take a look at the Bad Chem Videos thread and some of the videos linked. See also the similar videos list that comes up
when you watch. I am thinking particularly of some TATP vids. There is stuff there that is truly dangerous and worrying. There is stuff that is far
more prescriptive on how to make explosions and drugs than any of the chemistry-related videos that members here post.
As for the "fire" criterion -- that is just YouTube's way of giving themselves a license to do what they want. They will remove a Bunsen burner if it
suits them. They won't remove Grant-Thompson's fireworks in the street or some idiot accidentally setting light to a deck chair by mixing pool
chlorine and brake fluid. In other words, Jackass stays. Commercial and popular stays. Science goes -- unless of course it is a highly-polished
piece of video editing with company logos, white lab coats, professional-looking labs, product endorsements and a billion views per month.
