Thanks for posting this, I wouldn't have considered Kecks clips catching fire until now. My first major lab accident was a lot sillier than this one
(I aggitated a superheated HCl solution). A whole lot messier too lol. Luckily I dived out of the way in time and avoided being disfigured by boiling
acid. Accidents like these get lodged in your subconscious and make you a whole lot more careful about everything.

I've just seen this on ChemJobbers blog and thought it would be worthwhile to post it here:

It is something to be very aware of given the potential danger involved, and the corning hotplates that seem to be favoured by members here are
mentioned (not sure about specific model numbers...)
I recall a private communication with Peach where he told me that his IKA plate had melted, much like the image on the blog.
