sodium methylate
there has been a lot of coverage regarding the use of sodium methylate as catalyst for the production of methyl ester (as biodiesel) from reacting
vegetable oils with methanol. Can anybody tell me the differences related to the use of this catalyst compared to sodium hydroxide, or even to
potassium hydroxide?

Yes Tim, you are correct.
jendol, the fact that sodium methylate/methoxide is a stronger base than potassium or sodium hydroxide is of significance...
