Large quantity of chemical reagents, for free! UK
Hi all,
I used to have a hobby lab but sadly had to close it down when I lost the place I lived. The chemicals and equipment were in storage for 2 years, but
the time has come for them to go. I cannot afford to keep these, neither do I know if I will ever be able to have a lab space again. I have managed to
give away most of my things already (to uni and friends), but not all.
You can see pictures on the ebay listing. However, if you want these I would be happy to arrange and give them away for free  I would be delighted to find use and a new home for these!
This is limited to collection-only (south England), although it may be possible to deliver them to you myself with a car...

If you can find a way to get it there.... sure 
A friend of mine in France already said she'd love to take them, but again, I have no idea how to do it. If push comes to shove I will either have to
find a chemical disposals company (last resort, it'd be expensive), or might consider driving it across the channel, but I am unsure how doable that
is with customs and all...

You have a female friend in France who does chemistry???? Smashing!
You'd probably be better off taking the train from London to Paris. But I’m not sure what the restrictions aboard the Eurostar are, really. They
might find bottles suspicious. On the other hand, 'driving' across the channel is a huge hassle, so…

thats the plan
also there is no way you could take even a fraction of this on the train... I have been on the eurostar, they have luggage check akin to an airport :/
maybe it was easier before brexit

It's a shame I'm in northern England a good 4-6 hours' drive away, and with little spare space; I could have easily taken some of these but not the
whole lot.
I should think that if you're transporting these to continental Europe, it'd be easiest to use one of the ferries; as I understand it, the passport
checks are more rigorous these days, but apart from that the journey is pretty much the same as before, especially if you're not in a commercial
vehicle, and it's a good deal less than the £300ish you'd fork out for the Eurostar.

I've been to London at least twice before Brexit and I don’t think it was that different. They had those scanning machines. Ferries might be a
better option, yes. But, I mean, don’t sweat it. If it’s not feasible, forget about it.

If you would be willing to take even 1/2 of these it'd be very helpful
maybe if you happen to be driving by or have another reason to come down south...
actually, periodically I go up north also (to Edinburgh, but could stop on the way?), maybe something could be arranged. Let me know.

When I lived in
Texas, that length of drive wouldn’t even get me out of the state.

Compare the petrol cost, for once… And I can’t complain, having a car that runs on E85 saves me tons of money. It’s around € .7 per litre
these days, whereas standard unleaded petrol is more like € 1.7. I let you figure it out in your own units.
And then we have trains, also… :p
Also, glad to know everything has been sold. I’ll order CS₂ from Labdiscounter, lol

I saw lots of comments about how environmentally unfriendly Americans are, which are totally true. Last year I decided to drive from San Jose area
(California) to Portland area (Oregon) over a weekend (round trip) to take care of some family stuff. That’s more than half of the American west
coast. But the best part is I can bring my beloved dog with me.

The fact that once I'd done the 4-6 hours' drive down to Oxford (4 hours to the outskirts, discounting traffic jams on M1 and M40, and an unknown
amount of time to get to the interior), I'd have to do the same trip in reverse shortly afterwards on the same day, unless I'd paid to stay at a
hotel, and/or taken time off work as appropriate, makes it a pretty dire prospect.
I can do 4-6 hour drives in one go, that's no problem. But two of them back to back? No chance.
