This may look like a normal extraction but do not be deceived by its look. You are looking at a 6L RBF and a 2L extractor. An absolute unit of an
extractor. The first run will be the extraction of harmala alkaloids from 1Kg of seeds (legal here) later on also the extraction of piperine from a
lot of black pepper and also the extraction of quinine from 2-5kg of china bark.

Nice
From reading only: organic alkaloids and piperine are used as 'green' corrosion inhibitors for copper.
... No idea if of any significance wrt copper wire at bottom of extractor.

This is what the harmala alkaloid extraction looks like under UV light. The solvent is isopropanol.

New stuff
Got some new chems and can finally start the cubane preparation because of the benzene. On the nitropropene I´ll try to turn the double bond into a
cyclopropane ring. May also brominate the double bond. Only got it because of the want to smell it once lol. I have no interest of using it for
something illegal whatsoever.

Pretty
P-Nitro-Pyridine-N-Oxide crystals (are they? ) on the tip of a glass rod.
(They are much smaller IRL, the rod is around 5 mm diameter in reality.)

My view of the eclipse was some brightish clouds on the horizon.

@Pumukli, where did you find your procedure for the synthesis of 4-Nitropyridine-N-oxide ?
I can recall searching a lot for it a while ago but couldn't find one.

Had a very good view of the eclipse here in SLC! I took them both with my phone camera, the first one through my eclipse glasses, and the second one
without a filter.

I was lucky enough to receive a microscope, so here are some crystals of dysprosium nicotinate (which reliably forms x-ray quality crystals through
uncontrolled evaporation on a slide – how convenient!).
At the end of the day, simulating atoms doesn't beat working with the real things...

Nice! Is nicotinate a particularly good anion for lanthanides in general?
Also, have you grown crystals of every lanthanide yet (sans promethium)?

I'm still working on getting the crystals to be large, but the nicotinate seems to be the most promising salt I've worked with. I might try the
benzoate next.
I've made the acetates of all stable lanthanides except lanthanum and lutetium, but neodymium acetate crystals are somewhat unstable and prone to
desolvation, and cerium/praseodymium acetates don't seem to form crystals easily.
At the end of the day, simulating atoms doesn't beat working with the real things...

I've tried several times to make both K2CuCl4*2H2O (blue crystals) and KCuCl3 (deep red crystals). I've managed this...

Here's one of my from the last eclipse a few weeks ago:

Very simple circuit I got working quite spectacularly. Going to be part of my exhibit at Open Sauce.
