calculating percentage nitrogen in Pyroxylin

I'm looking to do a basic calculating to find the percentage of N2 is a small batch of nitrocellulose.
I've come up with;
Mass of cellulose pre nitration
Mass of cellulose post nitration
Difference / (no2 – 02) > mass of nitrogen
% nitrogen is moc /moN2

Does this sound right ?

I know i'm not factoring in losses during the nitration here but just can't think how to calculate that without know the total mass of the nitration mix, post nitration, which given the washing process seems unfathomable.

Thanks.

It's actually the calculation to determine %N2 i'm trying to clarify.

I'm going with;
Arbitrary figures used.

1g cellulose nitrated to 1.1g product assuming a 85% yield and 1/3 of the di nitro group as N2.

so 0.166g N2 over 1.1 x 100 = 15.09% N2 yes ?
