I got a 5 gallon vacuum chamber. The lid appears to be plexiglass. The vacuum gauge will actually measure down to -30 psig, which is impossibly low.

I cant read he scale in the photo ... maybe inches of mercury ?

That seems more likely. The only thing I am aware of that hits -30 psig are very talented escorts.

I used to have a similar setup.here in Oz 15yrs ago I spent about $350 building it.could have bought a vac pump for$400.now we have eBay, Amazon,
Alibaba etc sorry we now aren't bound to spending as much now building this sort of stuff comparsed ro the exhorbitant prices we used to have to pay

I hardly ever use mine because it tends to splash a bit, and sometimes a hose pops off. I'll use it a more when I get the minor kinks worked out, but
it's less messy to use a vacuum pump or just hook the aspirator to a water faucet.
I'm away from my lab for the next couple of months, but I'll check out the gauge on the vacuum chamber when I get a chance... inches of mercury would
make more sense than psi....
