Strange P-nitroaniline color
I recently purchased some p-nitro aniline off of amazon since it had good reviews and was fairly cheap, and upon receiving the package I noticed the
chemical inside was black or dark blue. I tried melting it to see if it had a similar melting point to p-nitro aniline and it started to melt around
70c. At around 100c some yellow crystals started to appear on the side of the flask so I tried to pour off the black sludge and it formed some nice
dark blue crystals when it cooled. I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else since I know aniline and p-nitro aniline are prone to being
oxidized but I wasn't expecting most of the sample I melted to be junk.

When pure it's very bright yellow, so I expect yours is significantly degraded - or perhaps just contaminated with something else entirely.
