Suggestions for experiments with Dimethyl glyoxime
I had received around 100g of dimethyl glyoxime for some qualitative analysis of nickel ions . Now I have that sitting quietly in my lab. I was
wondering I could do some kind of work with it so I can publish a video on that in YouTube. Any ideas for reactions with Dimethyl Glyoxime?

Apart from the nickel compound? You could add it to other TM ions to show the colour changes (but you won't get such a nice precipitate with anything
but nickel).
Please remember: "Filtrate" is not a verb.
Write up your lab reports the way your instructor wants them, not the way your ex-instructor wants them.

Dehydration and cyclitisation with NaOH solution yields dimethylfurazan. This can be oxidized to the dicarboxylic acid with KOH and KMnO4. Some
heterocyclic vicinal carboxylic acids undergo bromination decarboxylation to give the analogous dibromo compound but I don't know if it works with
this compounds dicarboxylic acid.
Oxidation under the right conditions converts it into dimethylfuroxan which may also undergo similar reaction.

Do you have the procedure notes. It would be really helpful for me to do it. I can even post a video on it then
