What size filter paper for 10cm buchner?
I have a 10cm inner diameter buchner funnel but it seems as though it is only possible to buy 9cm or 11cm filter paper.
9cm seems too small and would let stuff through and 11cm would be too big and cause creases which also would let stuff through.
Does anyone else have a 10cm buchner and if so, what size paper do you use?
Thanks.

You should be able to get 10cm filter paper circles, pretty sure I've seen them before...

Cant seem to find 4 inch or 10cm.......bloody stupid when 10cm buchner funnels are commonplace it seems.

How close are the holes in the buchner funnel to the edge? You might be able to get away with using 90mm circles.

I think they are too close for use of 9cm circles

I found some 10 cm filter paper discs on American Ebay pretty fast,... but the prices.
9 cm discs...$8 per 100.
10 cm discs... $47 per 100
They were being sold by hbarsci, but for prices like those I'd either buy a 9 cm funnel or get good at trimming the 11 cm discs down.

Thank you for looking for me, as i'm in new zealand, I can only see the international ebay, but as you say, it would be better to get a diff size
funnel than pay that rediculous price.
I was lucky to get the funnel I have through customs so its a real pain to have to roll the dice to get another. We have a big meth problem here so
any chemistry stuff caught at the border will cause a search warrant etc.

Some espresso pots have stainless steel Buchner funnels in them.
Most have aluminum.
You can always go to a few flea markets or charity sales of used items and bring your ruler.
You might get lucky and find a stainless steel one in a size you have filter discs in.
The whole espresso pots can generally be bought pretty cheap.
If you get a fancy one that makes steamed milk you might be able to rig up a steambath for heating flasks using the rest of the item.
Have you checked on beer and wine making equipment shops and sites?
Don't know how things are done down there, but I think a lot of American home brewers use Buchner funnels and they might be buyable on a low key basis
from home brew stores.
I used one of those espresso funnels for years. Jammed into a hole I drilled in a rubber stopper.

IF your 'chemistry set' is all legal then I would be tempted to import glassware and chemicals in small quantities repeatedly,
you may get one or two visits from the authorities but if they find nothing illegal then you can enjoy your hobby without fear.
This is the principle that I've been using for my chemistry hobby here in UK.
Five years and no visitors so I guess our customs checks are inadequate.

As someone who who built up his chemistry kit randomly/opportunistically (sometimes even oblivious even to joint size!), I recommend the 11 cm and a
pair of scissors
