Makeshift oil pump mist filter

I have an oil vacuum pump i havent used in years and the mist filter is broken. I put a temporary POS contraption on it, but it sputters and gets hot
Anyone have luck building a replacement? I think i melted the original because i left ot running for too long because im so used to my teflon diaphram pumps and hi-vac rotary pumps. My current POS trap is like a threaded aluminum fitting with a pvc pipe wirh cotton inside and a metal cap, all hammered together or screwed on( usinf brute force )

Just vent the oil mist outside.
