ketonic decarboxylation of succinic acid
I know that succinic dialdehyde is avaible to be purchased online, but im interested if it could by synthesized by ketonic decarboxylation of succinic
acid (by heat, base catalysed) or would it result in a cyclic monoaldehyde (ketone) ?

I doubt it.
I never heard about succinic acid as substrate in such reactions. I think adipic acid is the first alpha-omega-dicarboxylic acid which yields
something useful (cyclopentanone) besides tar under such circumstances.
Succinic wont cyclize, too short a chain, probably too much strain.
