free glassware and lab kit giveaway - UK only

I am moving and have some second-hand glassware and chemistry kit bits.
Instead of selling it, I will give it away as long as shipping and handling is paid (after receipt of package is OK with me). UK mainland shipping only. Shipping may run up to £40-£50 as I am shipping it in a foam-lined box very well packed and its a lot of kit.

All glassware, etc is in great condition, most of it is un-used and looks like new, some of the small beakers have minor staining and the Buchner funnel is stained although I ran solvent through it and came out clear.

I have the following items (more or less) and if there is more room in the package I will also toss in whichever solid reagents I have around and don't have shipping restrictions (mostly simple inorganic salts):
  • 20-200uL autopipette with a few non-sterile tips
  • 96 reaction well, glass coated, 1ml wells, standard format
  • 4 channel thermocouple reader with memory and a thermocouple or two
  • handheld pH meter with calibration solution
  • handheld TDS/EC conductivity meter
  • A pack of 10mm graphite electrodes
  • teflon tape for ground glass joints
  • 24/40 350ml glass fritted Buchner funnel with vacuum takeoff
  • 2 packs of filter disks for Buchner funnel
  • 24/40 250ml seperatory funnel (joints on both ends)
  • 24/40 1000ml double necked flask
  • 3x 24/40 500ml double necked flasks
  • 3x 24/40 100ml single neck flask
  • 24/40 100ml standard funnel with vacuum takeoff
  • 24/40 shortpath distillation head with thermometer port
  • rods, clamps and 90 degree rod adapters
  • 4x 100ml beakers
  • 250ml beaker
  • stirbars assorted sizes
  • 24/40 metal keck clamps for all glass/glass connections
  • 24/40 glass stoppers for glass/glass connections
  • plastic water aspirator for vacuum with integrated check valve
  • 1kg normal chromatography grade silica, 1kg flash chromatography grade silica, 1kg ion-exchange resin
  • assorted glass test tubes and vials
  • assorted glass tubing ~8-10mm diameter, ~40cm length
  • Simple cheap-o hot-plate (no stirring)
  • 2L stainless steel vessel with gas connectors/valves (old fire extinguisher bottle with connections)
  • assorted small stainless steel pots for waterbaths

To make this giveaway fun and fair, if you are interested PM me with the following information:
A) The best/most interesting advice you have ever received.
B) Why you would deserve this, IE community contributions, interesting project, good karma, educational institute, etc.
C) Statement that you are competent in using the above equipment and it will only be used for legal and ethical purposes.

Once I have around 10 candidates or a week is up I will PM the winner and post saying that a member was chosen.

Well this seems awfully generous.
I can think of a few UK amateur chemists that might be interested.

I sent a U2U offering to buy a couple of simple bits from the list, but if it’s less hassle just to get it all out in one go then that’s fair enough. Just have to wait and see what the verdict is.

I have gotten a few PMs already, just FYI I am interested in giving away the whole package not bits and pieces so if you want it, its all or nothing.
I will just leave it open till the end of the week or so, I will PM the winner.

Okay, that’s fine by me, count me out of the ‘competition’ because I certainly don’t have the space or need for all that equipment! Good luck to those who want them though.

I am amazed I have gotten less than 10 responses!
I thought it would be a generous gift to the community as many on here are cash strapped so I pretty shocked, although it may be a factor more related to daily forum views not actual interest or engagement.

Anyway the giveaway will close on Friday so if anyone is interested please PM me to get in the running.

Possibly, people may hesitate to ask to be considered for such an incredibly nice gift, feeling that a better destination is someone that has more difficulty to obtain/afford equipment, or is just starting.

I think another reason is almost no1 would need all of them so they want to leave them for some1 else. If you really want to give away, you may let ppl choose what they want and only post them what they want. For me, I dont need some of them like the auto pipette but need the others like sep funnels and some flasks.

He is here one day and he wants to give his lab away! Sounds to good to be true to me. So I figured its probably a scam or wind-up. I guess I am a suspicious type.
Yes if he is genuine it is very generous.

I was a lurker and only made an account to give some stuff away to the community where I learned a lot. Made some other posts of things on my mind but my main goal was to give my stuff to someone who appreciates it.

To give you some prospective, I would die to have that amazing list of equipment that you are extremely generously giving to someone, but my problem is I am an 18 year old student, with A-Level exams looming over in exactly a month, and I am working my bloody socks off to achieve the target grades I have set myself in my subjects, or to at least meet the entry requirements for my conditional offer for a masters degree of chemistry at the University of Warwick.

I am lacking both time and money to write a detailed entry to your giveaway (which I only found out about earlier today) and even pay for the £40-50 postage. I have not been in my home lab for a good month due to revision taking up my time, and that is saying something! :o

So I hope you realise you are not receiving many offers NOT because nobody is interested, but because people in the amateur chemistry community often have many unforeseen problems, and/or, as phlogiston said:

I imagine whoever wins your giveaway will be a very, very happy bunny - a very generous present for someone who will take good care of the equipment.

Yep, I have a chemistry blog!

I wonder if OP did give away the stuff or there's no 1 replied him and he had to either wait for some more time or just throw them away...
