https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdTUvevbKAQ

This (extremely famous) guy makes NI3, the procedure itself is not completely absurd, but you gotta love how he sets it off while his hand is barely 10cm away with no gloves at 0:24. The comment section is filled with people with no chemical experience wanting to blow themselves up, and that's what really unsettles me about this video: this guy has 5 million subs and goes from "how to float coins on water" to "high explosives: fun for all the family". I guess it's not the worst video on this thread but the comment section really pissed me off.

All right guys, we may need a reality check here. All videos are not aimed at the general public. I mean crap, is your momma or the local farmer going to watch this? There is a lot of satire presented among these videos and anyone who watches them is probably not from the average melt.

I think that most poor safety measures and poor lab techniques were intentional. Remember please, that this is not kindergarden class. I saw many fun videos in this thread. Most were akin of, hey hold my beer and watch this.

Wow, that really is bad. Not that I haven't done terrible stuff in the school lab for the heck of it, like get caught picking up a lump of a chemical to put in a test tube with my fingers (It was just a sodium hydrogen phosphate, though I suppose it wasn't proper).
But if the girl who's in the video likes chemistry, good for her.

Sorry if this has been posted before, i havnt had a chance to look at all the vids. I was looking for videos on plating Lead Dioxide on graphite, i found a couple and decided to look at some the other vids the people had done.

My reasoning was if their channel was generally good then the anode video should be ok.

Anyway on this guys channel he has a video of Acetone Peroxide........In a glass vial THROWN onto a fire pit! If you look at the video carefully the fence makes me think he has neighbors, at 1:26 is my fave bit, the guy says " and glass shards are thrown everywhere!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6Nyq5gILTE

Found another, no wonder people call for home chemistry to be banned. When you see stuff like this its hard to argue with them.

This video starts out with a disclaimer about simulated activities.

Max Protection - Drinking Acid

Then the real fun beings after a coating of his magic elixir he dips his hand in HF and then for the finale - drinking HF.

I don't get it. He gloves up and wears glasses. But then drinks it.
Obviously a simulation. But irresponsible in the extreme.
What an absolute plonker!

Just found this...this person has almost no regard for their or the people around them's lives:

https://youtu.be/K5NuqpdYDhE

EDIT: Oh...I read the comment section and realized that the video was made by a SM who is deceased.... Forgive me..

Ok. It's not dreadful. The idea is there and at least the professor is trying to spice up his undergrad chem lessons.
And admittedly this is not an official video -- just a bystander with a phone. So I guess I am commenting on the demonstration more than the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHKC8STAf6E

But i just can't get past (a) how poor the communication is. You just can't hear much of what is being said and I really question its educational value. And (b) how much it would cost for a demonstration of this scale. I think a smaller scale in the lecture theatre projected up o a screen would have presented the concept far better.

Seems like there was a possibility some of the secondary fragments of metal might have alighted on a spectator. When about 15, I cut a piece of sodium and then squirted it with the hose whereupon it exploded and some of the metal landed inside my dad's boat that was on a trailer in the driveway, a few little beads of fire burning one of the seats and floor. Not too smart. I had seen a few bits of metal on fire in the grass after the bang and wondered if any landed in the boat so I stood on the side of the trailer in order to see inside the boat and sure enough more fire beads.

(Probably) scary stuff. But no explanation whatsoever. Poor lighting and camera work so bad that you can't even tell what you are looking at.
It is a shame because it is not something that many get to see and it should be really interesting.

Cant tell if that is a very dirty schweizer reagent or it really is a super acid.

looks he just made some nitric acid(reddish-brown fumes),following the first method of nurd rage from his nitric acid guide..Notice how green the solution is.Also you can tell HCl was used instead of H2SO4 because the latter would have charred the tissue paper.

Ouch^2 That just encourages nanny laws. Its reminiscent of watching one guy I know using power tools. Surprisingly he has only hacked up his hand once but then he does not use them very often.

The wildest thing to me was the idea that it's hydrochloric acid that's precious and not to be wasted, rather than borohydride.
