No. There is no 'one' lethal dose. You give a number of mice (or other animals) a certain dose of a chemical. The dose at which 50% of the number of mice die, is the LD50. Some mice die at higher doses, some at lower. So what you call the 'LD' is both lower and higher than the LD50. It is a range.
