Chemistry Diamonds on YouTube
This list may be added to the Wiki. Stay tuned.
I had an idea to gather and sort as many high quality and even obscure chemistry YouTube videos as I could, so I shall be attempting it here. I
believe that this could shed some light on the lesser known compounds/reactions as well; I myself find a few great videos here and there while
searching obscure reactions, yet they are often ones neglected by most amateur chemists.
General
Chemistry:
[Acid Anhydrides] [Mn2O7]
Separation of Ethanol and Water with Salt
Drying Alcohol Using Magnesium and Molecular Sieves
Purifying and Concentrating OTC Nitric Acid
Inorganic
Chemistry:
Ammonia:
Preparation & Properties of Ammonia
Preparation and Properties of Ammonium Acetate
Preparation & Properties of Ammonium benzoate
Preparation & Properties of Ammonium bisulfate or Ammonium hydrogen sulfate
Preparation of Ammonium bisulfite
Preparation & Properties of Ammonium carbonate
Preparation of Ammonium citrate
Preparation & Properties of Ammonium chloride
Preparation of Ammonium Chromate & Ammonium Dichromate
Preparation & Properties of Ammonium oxalate
Copper:
Synthesis of Copper Aspirinate
Basic Copper II Carbonate
Chevreul's Salt
Copper Chromite Catalyst
Copper(ii) tetraamminesulfate: Synthesis, extraction, and various other experiments
Hydrogen:
Concentrating 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
Determining Concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide
Homemade Heavy Water (playlist)
Nickel:
Hexaaminenickel(II) Chloride
Nitrogen:

Potassium:
How to make Potassium Persulfate
How to separate potassium chloride from sodium chloride [This one is of lower quality, still helpful]
Sodium:
Making [Sodium] Cyanide (Ferrocyanide Base Method)
Making Lye From Salt (a rather unique way of doing so, using Hg)
Sulfur:
Sulfuric acid from sulfur using hydrogen peroxide
Organic
Chemistry:
Acetylsalicylic acid:
Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) extraction from aspirin tablets
Acetone:
Make Acetone Peroxide Do ***NOT*** attempt this unless you and your lab are suited with proper protection and
experience. This is illegal in the United States.
Of course content creators can request for me to take down/put up their videos as they please. The list shall be further updated(as of right now, I am
no where near done with it; I'm taking a break). If you have any suggestions(preferably videos that involve obscure reactions, synthesises, compounds,
ect.) please post them and I'll add them to the list. A Radiochemistry section will be added soon.

Very good idea velzee, but the way you named the topic is weird , i thought that the post is all about real diamonds with their chemical property as a
video on youtube ...ok anyway

Lab tips: Making sodium wire for drying solvents.
I couldn't get the link to post so this is simply the name of the video on you tube.

There is another good one by UC235 i think. He makes a lead/ sodium alloy especially made for drying solvents. He says that this is a much safer way
to do this rather than using sodium by itself and would be good for those who don't have a lot of sodium to spare. Although he seems to draw out the
video it is still pretty interesting.

I came across a channel recently -- new to me.
A lot of chemistry demonstration standards - nylon. elephant toothpaste etc, but quite well done.
A reasonable number of subscribers but traffic is slow and it has been around for a long time. I am a bit surprised that it hasn't received a mention
here (that I know of).
Anyway,

I've created a Wiki page which contains the updated list: http://www.sciencemadness.org/smwiki/index.php/Chemistry_Dia...
Suggestions are welcome!

I came across this channel
https://www.youtube.com/user/TheChemlife/videos
I have not watched many yet but it seems to be rather good -- with an emphasis on nanoparticles and electrical applications.

Wow thanks for adding my stuff to the wiki. I feel most of my stuff is crude and basic now, but soon I hope to get my hands on some more fun reagents.

Another channel I found that seems to be worth a watch:
https://www.youtube.com/user/mabakken/videos?sort=da&vie...
Again, I have not viewed a lot yet but they seem to be ok the ones I have watched. A lot of classic reactions but a good (if old) collection.

If you've never seen bulk magnesium burning, it's worth checking out; the metal undergoes a weird cauliflower-growth stage when it's not flaring.
Sparks on the surface of the growth makes the whole thing look like a churning thundercloud. This captures it nicely (action starts ~ minute 2-3)

I have started looking at this channel:
https://www.youtube.com/user/Hegelrast/videos
I have been rather impressed with the content. There are a lot of ideas worth repeating here. The cracking of hydrocarbons was well done. I might
have to repeat that with my students.

Ok. Not specifically chemistry. But awesome!
Actually I feel like I am late to the party for this one. It seems like the sort of thing I should have known about ages back.
A Capella Science. At least two YT channels and appearances on some others as well
https://www.youtube.com/user/acapellascience/videos
https://www.youtube.com/user/acapellascience2/videos
My favourites viewed so far:
Entropic Time. Supremely clever stuff.
Whole new worlds. A history of the discovery of exoplanets set to the soundtrack of Aladdin. Music is just awesome and there is some great
humour.
Bohemian Gravity. String theory to the music of Queen. Admittedly some of the content of that one went over my head. But hey, it is string
theory.
Anyway, enjoy!

Shameless self-promotion: I just made a video on burning diamonds, and put it on YouTube. Does that count?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS6fWwpI1A0
I'm very pleased with how it turned out. They look absolutely beautiful when burning. Skip to about 10 minutes in if you're just interested in the
actual experiment.
