A question
Why have I been banned? For those who don't know, I am Eosin Y. Blogfast and I ran an expose on Aga (and partially Bert.) Bert hasn't taken kindly to
our truth telling and has banned Eosin Y from posting.
If anyone is admin, can they please sort this out?
Wtf Bert?

I watch this with sadness and dismay.
We have here a talented group of people, who are playing with a whole range of things that many jurisdictions would like to regulate out of existence.
The defense against this is the responsible, inquiring and adult way that members seek to learn and improve their knowledge. Which is undercut by
public displays of childishness.
These periodic and public blow-ups are lethal to the argument that the home chemistry community is mature and responsible and capable of self
regulating itself so that it is both safe to society, and indeed a nett benefit to society.
I request that people with grievances U2U others to resolve such issues. If a group of people feel that there are issues that the forum needs to
address, bring it to the attention of the forum as a group, and in a polite and respectful manner.
Thank you for all the great chemistry,
including the Rochelle salt stuff from 2013 which led to making speakers and microphones,
to the great advice on copper tape which led to quick and easy PCB repairs,
for the discussions on "boiling the batt",
for the heads-up on the mechanism of sodium explosion,
for the OTC chemicals discussions which have opened up whole new sets of experiments for highschool students,
for the great stuff on CCD spectrometers,
and much more real chemistry that is simply interesting to watch

I could not agree more. Well said.

I like it that we are a passionate and diverse group of people, and, dare I say it, "smarter than the average bear".
With that, it is likely and maybe inevitable that there will be an emotive flare up every now and then. But the manner in which these are addressed
has to be more prudent. As far as forum train-wrecks go, the one we say the last 24 hours had more manners than most. But the public accusations:
with or without substance, was not good.
We are a moderated board for a reason.

That would be easier to agree with if you weren't also throwing accusations blogfast. We don't care who started it, we just wish both sides would
stop.
It was well put Harristotle.
Eosin Y does deserve being told why whatever has been done has been done but that's between him and the mods.

Well I'm a mod, and I don't even know why it happened. There is really a lack of good communication between staff members here, and between the staff
and the rest of the forum...
Personally my opinion in all of this is that the only person truly in the wrong on anything here is aga, because he is the one who started all of this
far-flung speculation that there's some web of sockpuppeted accounts who are all the same person, which is just ridiculous. None of this would have
happened had he not kept spreading that around. And I've told him multiple times over the last few months that he needs to cut that out.
At the same time though, I don't know what reasoning Bert is using here, and Polverone has not weighed in at all. It could be that there is more to it
than what I know of.

Communication is vital amongst staff so all banning incidents are a comity agreed action, this prevents power tripping.
Some can give in their emotions when it comes to moderation (I am not claiming this is the case here)
And when I ran game servers I all ways kicked the sh*t disturbers first (Not full on ban) and if they didn't shape up ban. While blocked watch to see
how things aligned, if all the bs dropped the kick turns to ban.
I do not know enough of the situation to say any thing definitive, but those are my methods may or may not apply here.

No, I shouldn't have demanded Bert's booting.
However, I do not believe that I should not be banned without reason/notification.
The mods need to explain this. I have already fallen in love with this forum, and to be banned by a mod who doesn't like what I say is preposterous.

Eosin Y, are you sure you have been banned and not temporarily suspended, or something? Usually when someone has been banned, their title is replaced
with "banned" in their old posts, but yours is not. It still says "hazard to self."
Maybe the "ban" was an accident that has already been corrected?

Probably. You will have to have a private chat with a mod.

I already asked Bert about this ban. I personally do not see a reason to ban Eosin Y, but I'll wait for Bert to respond. I want to give him the
opportunity to either explain things to me, or correct things. I ask Easin Y to have a little more patience, until Bert is online again.
I think that no one is to blame anything in this case, except aga.

That's good. Thanks for this woelen. And if he goes online and doesn't respond, will you reinstate my posting rights?

Blogfast and aga, this is not the place for both of your shitposting. I have deleted your entirely tiresome back and forth. Thread is closed until
we work out the reason for this ban.

Eosin Y is the reincarnation of a troll who in the past posted energetic materials syntheses which if performed would have seriously injured members.
