Sulfuric acid (Australians)
Mostly a lurker but thought I would contribute ever so slightly. For other Australians. Drop your moflo or crappy battery acid. Found a company called
Cyndan which sells $20/L or $95/5L of 98% sulfuric. They sell heaps of good stuff actually.

"The shipping costs and taxes are explained. Please note that any orders over $300 are sent
freight free. Orders below this threshold will incur a minimum freight charge of $30"
So it's still $50 for 1L. The MSDS also describes it as a brown oily liquid, so it still has the brown dye in it. But still, nice to know there are
lots of sources of chemicals around the net for Aussies.

I bought some its not that expensive, literally paid $54 for 2L only because I don't have anywhere to store 5L. That's shipping & tax included.
Not sure where you got these prices from. MSDS states it as clear to oily brown liquid. I think its pretty rare to ever find one that is perfect
clear sulfuric. Still 98% which is about 8% better than moflo. Will let you know how clear it is when I get it.

I had a browse around the site. I didn't spot sulfuric acid. Care to post a link?

I'll nudge nudge wink wink here they also sell 20L of nitric for like $80. It's 30%, with lots of distilling you could get about 8.6L of 70% though
which isn't bad at all. Especially if you have trouble getting nitrate salts. Found a few other good sources in Aus of various chems; AN, DAP,
methanol, phosphoric come to mind.

paramount chemicals sell 10 L 98% sulfuric acid for $58 and 20 l nitric acid (68%) for $120. Why do people keep making new threads for chemicals in
australia... We have like six now- can a mod merge them or something?

Was excited about this until I saw no shipping offered. Cost me several times over what its worth in petrol just to pick it up. What's the deal?

2.5L 98% sulfuric acid from Austalian Scientific in newcastle cost me $55.
I walked in the door, rang the bell, then asked the employee for the smallest quantity of H2SO4 they offered, they didn't care about selling to
non-business so long as I signed the EUD form.
Admittedly I live 5 minutes away from them so transport to and from isn't a factor for me. I have no idea if they are as accommodating to
non-commercial customers if shipping is required.

here?, It is a little unclear from your post. Where did you end up purchasing from? And what were the shipping charges like?
(I am growing tired of making my own H2SO4 and am seeking a better solution. And the seller I was going to use has gained a reputation for being not
reliable -- a significant string of ebay poor reviews.)

Sorry, I was trying to be in part a bit vague because I don't want the thread coming up when someone googles the product name. Not that its being used
illegitimately just not for its intended use and sometimes people have a problem with that.
I bought it online from Cyndan. If you go onto the website and put sulfuric into the search the product will turn up. Shipping charges were very cheap
and a bit weird. $10 flat for single bottles in an unlimited amount it seemed. buying 5L is cheaper but shipping goes up so price ends up being
exactly the same if you buy 5L bulk or 5L of single L bottles ($120 from memory). Sulfuric from what I can tell is lab grade, very pure, clear and the
bottles and box it arrived in is actually from a chem supplier with a cheap print off "drain cleaner" label slapped on it. You can probably get it
from a supplier as a lot of people mentioned. A lot of places will ask for an EUD on it though and I don't like doing that too much or buying chems
together as people sometimes will infer what you are doing with them. Better to just be quiet off the radar and pay an extra $3. Give them a go.
shipping is cheap and fast. Can't complain at all.
