^ I know right. I was just saying "in 3ish weeks i need to find a large lot of glass to toss into storage" just because the US can change how it feels about laws at the drop of a hat or make it harder to obtain and now that i have all i need for basics i want to get a lot of boiling flasks specifically as i worry immensely that their multi-neck types will be made harder to get and i will say, i wish i did when i could

Having said that i demand you take it down and re-post it in 3 weeks ;)

That is a large collection of glassware, should sell for $250-300 in my estimation. Almost everything to set up a 24/40 lab. Good luck on the sale.

Any ideas as to how I should go about packaging all of this?

Seems like you had a degree in packaging laboratory glassware when I got it from you Dr.Bob, does any of it look familiar? Good estimation... I got most of it from you minus the liebig/distillation receiver, which was about #35 or so + about $20.

Im very sad. :( Hoping I can recuperate from the setbacks, like a Pheonix, rising from the ashes... Move on with my education, move out from home, continue on with my education in chemistry... And make it...

Does anyone know about the legal state that glassware is in? Are there any bills being voted on to ban it? How could I keep track of what is being voted on in the final stages?

It does seem like some laws pop up out of nowhere, and instantly. Like gay marriage legalization, I had a feeling a change was coming on in society but then it came up instantly one day I was like Whoa! I didnt know things could happen that fast. (it seemed to me like it caught everyone by surprise, maybe that was just me) I guess it was already going through the processes that bills do to become laws... I forget this process, If someone could remind me that would be great

Is there a way to check and see what is being voted on in the final stage, what is this final stage? (is it available to the public to watch? so we know what might happen the next day, and so we can plan the party! Or plan for the lack there of...

Thanks!

The secret is to immobilize everything so it doesn't bang together. Keep the items well away from corners and edges by lining the box with foam, extra cardboard, or use an inner/outer box with newspaper between.

It also helps to write "FRAGILE - GLASS" all over the box. Generally you can file a complaint if things get broken.

I do not know of any glassware laws except those in Texas.

Thanks for saving me. I was about to respond with "America isn't Nazi Germany," but apparently in Texas, it is. What has the world come to?

Bump
More details http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/viewthread.php?tid=64250

I noticed that the auction has stalled a bit. This looks like a great opportunity for someone who lives within mailing distance.
I'd also like to see Yttrium get a good deal. Seems like he could use a bit of a break at the moment.

The US has some of the most lax laws regarding glassware and chemicals. Anyone in the US who thinks they have it hard please contact one of our Austrian brothers in chemistry and they can tell you about all the anti meth programs they have and how the police call their house over some RBF single orders and they have it hard, not you.

Sorry i just feel bad for those who are criminals for learning, i wasnt trying to upset anyone or start the "who has it worse" pity party.

Ugh, seriously, I am getting tired of the whole "Texas is hell for chemists" thing. It's NOT. And putting a warning about glass on a box being shipped to Texas would be perfectly acceptable. Plenty of people ship drinking glasses etc all the time. My dad collects beer glasses and it isn't uncommon for him to receive a box that says "Fragile- Glass" on it.

This posting seems to be gone. Perhaps it was sold, but ebay says it was removed due to an error.

In response to my query through Ebay, Yttrium decided to temporarily withdraw his listing. Ebay had entered a shipping price unbeknownst to him that he found unacceptable. Perhaps he will relist the glassware after he sorts out the shipping problem.:(

Tis a shame... synthsource should have a thread for suggested ebay sales, as they come and go quickly, and often are missed. Also, great title for the website (synthsource). Makes it not sound kewl-ish, but instead on par with Orgsynth (except it's not :P).

Looking for a glass retort

Hi, I'm looking for glass retorts, traditional pelican style... similar to the one shown here.

retort_with_stopper.jpg - 23kB

Ideally, it would come from a location in Canada, as I live in southern Ontario. But if anyone has any suggestions, I'll gladly take them.

Thanks!
