ionizing gasses
I know a plasma globe is very effective to ionize gas but is there another way if you don't have one? Perhaps a simple electrical device i can make
without electrocuting myself

A candle flame is at least slightly ionised.
What do you want plasma for?

A flyback transformer is pretty easy set up (look on the ZVS thread). You can electrocute yourself with this fairly easily if you're not careful, but
it doesn't put out much current, so it will hurt but not do serious damage (still, though, plasma burns are not pleasant).
A neon sign or microwave transformer, on the other hand, will kill you.

I just want to ionize an ampoule of argon embedded in acrylic so no microwave
I've been trying to find a plasma globe for sale around here but can't find it
Until then the ampoule looks like its 'empty'

Unusual for the gas not to ionize in the vicinity of the plasma globe pechaps it was not generating enough current to penetrate the acrylic
It's supposed to logok like the neon / nitrogen in the other picture
