Idio-C
I am shedding tears, because this is hilarious, and at the same time this is extremely depressing.
These "whole food advocates" are making the argument that ascorbate does not constitute vitamin C. Instead, it's a complex of tyrosine, copper,
bioflavinoids, and "substances known and unknown," so you need to get your vitamin C from "whole foods." These substances have ZERO vitamin C
activity. Here are some links promoting this theory.

This is even more ridiculous - it states that "fake" ascorbic acid was made by adding hydrochloric acid to corn syrup! Don't forget the crazy
anti-GMO nutting going on.
Thankfully, this document explains how all of this complete bunk. Granted, they do advocate megadoses of vitamin C to cure heart disease, but at least they
have the basic science down.
And let's ask Oregon State what they think.
One of the things I keep on reading is that Albert Szent-Györgyi determined that ascorbic acid alone isn't vitamin C. This is obviously wrong, but
does anyone know where he's being quoted (quote-mined, I presume?)

I can't see how someone would actually believe this crap. The whole food thing is just a ripoff, you can buy natural milk of magnesia at a whole food
store or buy it at a pharmacy, they are both composed of magnesium hydroxide but one is 5-10 dollars more expensive.

That is one of the most absurd things I've ever seen. I don't know whether I should laugh or cry, because there are some people who actually believe
this crap.
Fear is what you get when caution wasn't enough.

The people who believe this should be willing to prove it by going on a long voyage while only bringing 'whole foods' known to be low in ascorbic
acid, and see how they go at avoiding scurvy.
Never accept that which can be changed.

Freedom of speech makes the spread of misinformation rampant when the general populus can't tell the difference between a good reference and a tabloid
magazine.
And the problem with that is that these people vote.

I love my brother-in-law to death, and he's SMART (he worked on the robotics line at an Intel chip plant)--but for some reason he buys into junk ass
science though. We agree to not talk about idiots like Royal Lee.........

The really deeply insane bit of this is that scurvy was a well-known, serious problem when the only food around was basicly "whole-food".
So the one thing we know can not cure scurvy is "whole-food".

Of course it is stupid and idio-C, but I wouldn't spend to much attention nor effort in this kind of things.
I did some bodybuilding (years ago), and the only person who could finally tell me a single reasonable word about the whole subject of supplements was
a guy studying to become doctor-researcher is his fifth year.
I tried to discuss the subject with a lot of definitely not stupid people (what Arkoma says as well), but ones they are obsessed (and you have to be a
bit before you start writing about the subject without a proper education) they are not reasonable anymore and they will just not believe you anymore.
There is so much shit on the internet you cannot fight it, or at least not persuade them in getting a sensible idea.
The only thing I can say is; eat healthy and take some A-Z vitamine/mineral tablets if you want to be sure.
And yes; the ∞ stupidity is definitely in place!
