Madhatter: Are you sure that it is a 500mL flask? If I'm not mistaken, labglass is the same company as United Glass Tech and their site says they
only sell 5000mL and 12000mL flasks with 45/50 joints.

What type of joint is it for the 250ml- 24/40?
I would really love and use the 250ml one , please (no matter what joint size it is).
I don't have any florence flasks currently, so it would be used a lot, but does anyone else really want/need this one?
I feel uneasy giving my address away, is there some way to ship to me without me losing my security? This isn't a gov't trick is it? No,
they already know where I live.

Flasks
I can't look at the equipment at the moment because I'm on a computer at work.
The 500ml flask definitely has the 45/50 joint on it. It's probably an older piece
that's no longer in production. I call it unusual because the neck is almost as
wide as the rest of the flask.

WOW!
Your last post about that flask sparked my imagination, although it might be considered a rare flask, such a flask would make the removal of solids
with a rubber policeman vastly easier. With the proper reduction adaptor....

WANKER AGAIN !
Eliteforum, THANK YOU !
Anyway, the 1st member who posts, and meets my criteria gets
the flasks. I don't care if the claim is for 1 but I'd rather it be 2 !

Flasks
Cyrus, the 250ml flask will be shipped to you on Friday. EliteForum, your
location is UK ? Normally, I woudn't ship that far but the 500ml flask is
light enough so it shouldn't cost that much ! Consider it a Thank You
gift for helping me with the pictures. Do you anticipate any problems
with your Customs there ?

Glass won't be much of a problem. Label as decorative gift or something. But a bign FRAGILE sign on it, too.
I've seen the selection lines of big companies like FedEx and UPS etc. Let's just say the boxes barely touch the ground.

250ml Flask
Cyrus, the 250 ml flask was shipped with a 1-hole rubber stopper out to
you this morning. USPS priority mail. EliteForum, I still need your
mailing address.
I'm still in search of more condensers with different styles than what's in
my existing collection. Anyone happen to know where I could find a
"Metroware" condenser ? Assassinated twice by eBay bidding snipers
trying to get 1 of those. Anyway, if I find other condensers in large lots
of glass, I'll be happy to ship out the excess. Good lab glass should
never be discarded. Anyone who commits that "crime" should be shot !
Vulture, thanks for the advice on international shipping !

ebay sniping
I have a way of dealing with those pricks -although it may not appeal to everyone. I just enter a bid that is the absolute maximum that I will pay
and let ebay do the bidding. If the sniper wants to pay more than my maximum then he has earned it.

I thought ebay always let/made bidders use proxy bidding. That's all I have used, and it stops sniping, almost.
MadHatter, WHAT on earth do you do with all that glassware, it sounds like you just collect it. Well, everyone has their own hobby.
I'll post back when I get the flask.

Snipers
Magpie, I did indeed enter very high bids only to eat the proverbial bullet in the
end. The snipers usually bid in the last 2 minutes of the auction, generally
leading to an all out bidding war. At least 1 time I suspect I was the victim
of shill bidding, although it's illegal and I have no way of proving it.
Cyrus, let me know when you receive the flask. I collect condensers
and retorts, and I'm always looking to add to my collection. I only use
the liebig and graham condensers in actual applications.

internet auctions
Well I guess you guys know as much or more about buying at auction than I do. And, yes Cyrus, I believe all eBay bidding is by proxy.
I just started buying lab equipment on eBay a few weeks ago and am nearly finished. At least that is what I'm telling my wife (am I just kidding
myself?). I bought most of the items at 25-33% of catalog price based on the lowest catalog price I could find. I only bought one item on a live
bid - at LabX. That was exciting. Went nose-to-nose for 10 bids before the bidding stopped. LabX keeps the bidding open for 2 minutes past closing
for as long as the bidding continues.

On The Lookout !
As I've stated before, I'm always on the lookout for condensers and
retorts. Recently on eBay, some guy had 680 pieces of glassware to
sell ! Not a condenser or retort among them I'm afraid to say ! Too
bad really, because if I had found even ONE CONDENSER or RETORT
for my collection, I would send the rest out to whoever claims it !
Ashame, really because this seller appeared to have a garage full !
This is my offer - find a "lot" of glass with an unusual or rare retort
or condenser in it. My finder's fee will be the excess glass ! I'll even pay for
the shipping as other members can attest to ! Fair enough ?
Find me one of those rare "Metroware" condensers, I'll even throw in
some cash on top ! Now I'm sure that some of you think I'm a nutjob.
That's OK ! The fact is I collect unusual pieces of chemistry glass !
Please, indulge me, it might be worth your effort ! All you have to
do is point me in the right direction !

If you dont mind me asking, how do you fund your search for retorts and condensers? This seems like a hell of a lot of money you are spending to find
them.
