Typical media chemophobia-mongering. It's getting to the point where if you buy vinegar, bleach, and hydrogen peroxide at the same time in a grocery
store, the airhead lane attendant will probably think you're making drugs or bombs. Reminds me of a story: a few months ago, I wanted to try some
ferrous sulfate on my lawn because it seemed an anemic color of green. I didn't want to use a typical lawn fertilizer because they all contain
nitrogen in addition to iron, and nitrogen would make the grass grow faster, which was not my aim. (with over 2 acres, cutting it is a bit of an
ordeal) I'd read that heavy-duty feed stores sometimes have it for livestock by the pound. Of course, in northern Delaware there isn't much
livestock so the closest I could find was a large warehouse that supplies hay, oats and whatever else for horses. I go in there and ask if they have
"iron sulfate". Not ferrous, just "iron sulfate". You sort of expect, ummm, most people to realize at least that iron is a normal and necessary
component of mammalian blood. First comment: older woman in charge says in her hayseed (no pun intended) Delmarva accent: "What kind o' drugs you
makin'?"
