preparation of aluminum chloride
everyone knows how usefull aluminum chloride (dry) can be for all type of chlorination reaction...but water destroys it,
it can be made from its element in a dry environment ...
ok now what about aluminum powder in suspention in carbon tetrachloride (or chloroform) with chlorine bubbling in?
could the same be done to prepare AlBr3? and the iodide?
could methylen chloride be the solvent ? has anyone thought about it before? sorry if i missed a post about it
