Does uniform corrosion is electrochemical (anodic & cathodic sites) or chemical corrosion (oxidation of metal)?

yea , thats what i understand but in a cprrosion course the instructor said that there is anodic and cathodic sites but we cant separate them , so by
this way he exclude that it is chemical and mean that it is electrochemical ???
