Free radical reaction of carbon or silicon to aluminum

Do carbon free radicals or silicon free radicals typically bond with aluminum? My research is showing it needs an oxygen bridge. Is the bond stable? Are there equations/laws governing this? I would love some references to support an answer to this question or some reading that my help with this subject.
