Nitrocellulose
Hy dudes, I've recently done some Nitrocellulose, ca. 3-4 g...
I've also read a guy use it as primary explosion, for starting a bigger load. Now I'm not realy sure about this, what do you guys think about?
So my question is: is it possible to start, lets say ANFO with Nitrocellulose?
And beside, to call it smokeless powder, like the german wikipedia is saying, is...not aquerate.(Its possible to manufacture smokless powder w/ it,
but like this?) Its more smokeless as blackpowder, but its still producing some smoke
Ty for your answer(s), me

I cant miss that there is already a topic about NC.
And no.. NC is by far too insensitive to act as a primary.
It is considered a secondary explosive.
So this wont work.
Please read some books before asking these obvious questions.
What a fine day for chemistry this is.

NC can be made to detonate if its confinement is strong.
To detonate ANFO the detonator would need to be large and resemble a pipe-bomb.
With thin ignition wires led in through an end-cap the device would detonate with vigour.
And highly nitrated NC is practically smokeless. . .

There is already a big nitrocellulose topic; which would have answered your questions.
It is not a primary explosive and will not detonate your anfo in any practical amounts...
It makes smokeless powder with many stabilizers to prevent decomposition of the NC. Historically before the addition of said stabilizers there were
many accidents when attempting to use NC in this role...
Topic Closed.
