I cross-posted links for some new Rapidshare.com links of mine on it only a few hours ago; and Phrixus-sci.org seems to be doing fine now. So if, all
of a sudden, you cannot access it, its static IP address is probably being blocked by your ISP, after they found out about its taking up where
Roguesci.org left off. Try accessing it through a proxy-server in a foreign country selected from http://www.samair.ru/proxy .

Ummm. Rouge (Fe2O3) is called Rouge, Because it is red.
As in La Moulin Rouge; The Red Windmill.
I would suppose, that since the Reds (the communists), are no longer running things, the term Rouge Science.....Is rapidly becoming an anachronism.
So, was there actually a website called Rouge Science?

A Communist science site would be nice. Of course, no chemical could be more reactive than another so it might fall pretty quick.

All chemicals are equally reactive, but some are more equally reactive than others.

News On Roguesci
I've learned from a very reliable source associated with Mega as to what happened to RS.
The source wishes to remain anonymous and I respect that.
Mega is just fine. The 'ASMALLORANGE' servers were hacked by a crypto-ransom virus. The
server owners and the FBI are trying to sort through the attacks even while the
extortionists are still trying to collect payment. Mega says RS will be back before 2010
and that nothing was lost because it's all been backed up.
I've had some experience getting rid of the 'AntiVirus 2009' and earlier versions of
this extortionware. These go after individual computers and attempt to extort money.
The 'System Restore' feature has been my main weapon against these assholes.
But now, AntiVirus 2010, an even more sophisticated version, completely dominates
the operating system. My nephew's computer is infected with this latest version and I'm
having a difficult time trying to get rid of it. Windows XP won't even allow a login or
boot from a CD ! I just received a new eide-interfaced floppy drive for the next attempt
as his computer doesn't have one and mine fubared itself. I'll keep you posted.
From opening of NCIS New Orleans - It goes a BOOM ! BOOM ! BOOM ! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

A virus...
ah well it is good news that RS will be back online.
Funny how nothing was reported for quite a while.
And how the conspiracy theories where synthesized
What a fine day for chemistry this is.

Oh! Another version of that "extortionware", or "$camware" if you like (being both a viru$ and a $cam), that has been doing the rounds lately, appears
to be that called "Total $ecurity". I was somehow hit by it, recently.
When "Total $ecurity" infects a computer (probably by someone deliberately targeting specific online computer, initially putting a setup EXE file in a
"hidden" system folder on a drive, which installs itself on rebooting), with its main executable files being buried deep in the "Documents And
Settings" system of folders and in a folder in "Program Files", on booting it displays a "guff" page saying that your computer is infected, and then
pretends to do a virus scan, in which it throws up all sorts of fictitious virus and trojan infection results. At the same time, it prevents you from
running any other programs, including real anti-virus programs and Regedit, and including those which normally start on booting, except for Explorer
and browsers and internet connection software. At the conclusion of the alleged "virus $can", it pops up a page demanding that you go to a certain
web$ite and pay them a sum of money by credit-card or PayPal, in order to be given something to remove the fictitious viru$es.
I got rid of it by pressing F10 - "System Restore" - on rebooting, which replaces the DAT registry files in the Windows folder, set to start "Total
$ecurity" on rebooting, with the previous version, which does not contain the keys which start it on rebooting. Then, without "Total $ecurity"
running, you can run an anti-virus program to find and remove its files from all folders in the boot drive where they could possibly be located.
If, in its more sophisticated version, using "F10-system restore" does not work, and it still demands money from you to make it go away, the only
other methods of removal would be either: by booting from an emergency boot floppy disk and manually deleting (DEL) its executable files in DOS (if
you know where to look for them, and what their names and dates are), or better still booting into Windows (safe mode) from a boot CD-ROM if your
version of Windows has allowed one to be made; or by using a temporary substitute boot drive, with the original boot drive set up as a secondary drive
or in an external hard drive case, and either using an anti-virus program like AVG on the original boot drive or failing that reformatting it and
copying a backed up image of its uninfected state back onto it.

@ MadHatter
" Windows XP won't even allow a login or boot from a CD "
The order of which device may boot is set in the BIOS
set the CD to first boot device. You can leave it like that
since it is bypassed if no CD is detected in the drive.
If you still have trouble , verify that the CD drive is in
working order , blow air in it perhaps a dust ball is blocking
the laser.

None of this makes sense. I won't even begin to believe this unless I can see a PGP signed message from mega himself.

Well, apparently we're throwing civility out the door.
How about this: why hasn't megalomania just said this himself? There is no good reason why an extortionware program on his server would render him
incapable of sending an email or making a post from his PC. And why is the FBI involved in a hacking case like this?
I considered not saying anything, because I imagined I might get a dipshit response like yours. However, I think that people should be made aware of
the inconsistencies of this story.

I never posted on Rogue Sci. so I know littel about it but was there anything being discussed there that was not available elsewhere???
The whole kerfuffle is a bit of a storm in a teacup. No disrespect to Megalomania but he has probably moved onto something else and did not pay the
bill. Perhaps he posts on this board as a different entity?????????????????

Wow, that disease forum seems like one messed up place to be.
Funny how phrixus does not seem to get off the ground, I guess not everyone is willing to go to that place.
Sorry to say but both this and rogue contained close to no science.

More beleaguered than doing well. . .
It's been down for a fortnight or more!
It seemed a rule-ridden forum too.

Rogue Science Comeback
RS has a page stating "Rogue Science Will Rise Again". The bird in the background is
"Phoenix Rising". Is this a video game ?
The soundtrack being played is Thomas Dolby's, She Blinded Me With Science.
I don't know what to make of this page. It doesn't specify any kind of time frame. It's
been almost a year now.
