Mystery stainless part-any ideas?


I have two of these, one is similar in design but smaller. I'm guessing some sort of burner, it comes apart into two bits quite well machined. I cannot see any logical way to get a gas feed into it though if it is a burner.

Does the item in the bottom picture fit in the intem in the first picture?

sorry, they are the same item, i will explain properly.
Both images are of the same item assembled from two pieces.

In the first image you can see the two pieces, an internal one locked into the outer. the internal one has a large machined cup with a same hole in the bottom.

the second image is just a side view.
