"Off" day - turning our electronics off for a day
In response to the thread "then and now", I propose an "off day" on a Saturday so that no one has any planned activities. On this day, we would not
use any electronic devices (tv's, computer, radio, xbox, IPod, Cellphone, Iphone, or anything of the such). In other words, the only electronic
device we should use on that day is the lights. Therefore, we would be bored, and go outside and want to spend the time with family, read, or do
anything that does not require an electronic device. I would like everyone on this forum to participate. When we have agreed on a day, then I will
post this to digg and a bunch of other sites of the such and hopefully even more will participate. I got this idea because today is the "national day
of silence" for internet radio.

I think that's a good idea.

get Google on board with the idea, and I`ll consider it, otherwise you`re pissing in the wind and won`t even make a millionth of a percent difference
to anything!
neat idea, but as it stands, Flawed.

I just go camping dozens of miles away from any other people, with a few friends.
Does wonders for your sanity. And heck I dont even have running water when I go.
But if anything comes of this, I'd probably be in.

I have electrolyses to perform!
Going without ___ isn't much of a problem. Now, electricity is pretty indispensible, since almost everything runs from it: lights, refrigerator,
sometimes stoves, utility heaters (water, home air), etc. But some of the more complicated things that run from electricity, the entertainment items
-- like television and computer. In instances of internet outage, I have little to do here. Okay, games and a few other things, but there aren't
many I'm actively playing. It does tend to drive me towards the bench and do some work. That reminds me, I need to build a pair of solid state audio
amplifiers for summer.
It does seem funny that the toilets actually work in a power outage. Takes a moment to realize they are purely hydraulic.

Your toilet may work, but the pump in the wet-well down the street certainly wont - it is only a matter of hours before the shit starts overflowing.

I agree with The_Davster. I go hiking in the mountains with friends. Not an electronic device in sight! Staying overnight in the "real" world really
give you a clean perspective to our materialistic society.

I'm not talking about turning the power off for the day. You can still use the lights. Just no ipods and all of the other crap that we don't need
