Energetic Materials Volumes 1 & 2: Inorganic Azides
Howdy from the Great State of Texas.
This is a (somewhat modified) copy/paste of a post I wrote on another board.
Quote: | I'm going to scan (eventually) the two volume set called Energetic Materials by H. D. Fair and R. F. Walker and published by Plenum Press in
1977. The first volume is called Physics and Chemistry of the Inorganic Azides and consists of 503 pages. The second volume is called
Technology of the Inorganic Azides and consists of 296 pages.
If someone has already scanned and OCR'd these books or there is an online version, PLEASE tell me. I will be indebted to you
forever.
Also, if someone could check the references section of SM for me for any mention of scans, I'd appreciate it. (I don't post on that
board, so I don't have access to the references section. [...])
Brief ToC of Physics and Chemistry of the Inorganic Azides
Chapter 1: Synthesis and the Chemical Properties
Chapter 2: The Growth of Crystals
Chapter 3: The Chrystal Structures
Chapter 4: Molecular Vibrations and Lattice Dynamics
Chapter 5: Electronic Structure of the Azide Ion and Metal Azides
Chapter 6: Slow Thermal Decomposition
Chapter 7: Imperfections and Radiation Induced Decomposition
Chapter 8: Fast Decomposition in the Inorganic Azides
Chapter 9: Stability and the Initiation and Propagation of Reaction in the Azides
Brief ToC of Technology of the Inorganic Azides
Chapter 1: Processes for the Manufacture of Lead and Silver Azide
Chapter 2: Analysis of Azides for Assay, and in Complex Media
Chapter 3: Handling, Storability, and Destruction of Azides
Chapter 4: The Sensitivity to Impact and Friction
Chapter 5: Electrostatic Sensitivity
Chapter 6: Sensitivity to Heat and Nuclear Radiation
Chapter 7: The Role of Azides in Explosive Trains
I have been considering scanning the second volume first as I think few people here care about first volume.
Through (what I suppose to be) a spelling error or typo during my search for information on scans of these volumes, I missed that someone else had
scanned something called 'Energetic Materials - Inorganic Azides.' I've finally found it on the [madhatter's] FTP after a long search. It appears that
the only place in which it is on the FTP is Uploads/Ravn/Books/misc explosives 1 as [Chemistry Explosives] Energetic Materials - Inorganic Azides
(OCR'ed). pdb only scanned the first chapter of Vol. 1. Finding this file has cautioned me, so I'm going to wait to start scanning until I ask around
on SM.

Does anyone know if these volumes have already been scanned (besides the first chapter of Vol. I as I have mentioned), or if anyone is working on
them? I would UTFSE myself if I had access to the References section...

No, we haven't been able to find it. Have at it. I'd love to get a copy.

Thanks for this, as I have never been able to find a copy of volume II to read.
As far as I know, volume I does not exist in scanned form beyond chapter I.

You're welcome. I will eventually get around to scanning Vol. I. Eventually.
