Broken gas chromatograph (Shimadzu GC-17A) - could use some help fixing it
Edit: Wasn't sure what the right forum was, this or Reagents and Apparatus Acquisition Sorries if it's in the wrong place :p
Hey everyone, just registered here to ask some questions regarding a broken Shimadszu gas chromatograph.
A nearby chemistry school binned it just a week ago with the complaint it was 'broken and wouldn't turn on'.
I asked if I could have it and they allowed me to haul it back home in the back of my car.
I've tried to turn it on, to no success. Power button is working, fuses are fine, but on the power control circuit board there's no volts coming out
any other end.
230V goes in, supposedly some other voltage comes out the other side, which isn't happening.
It's got a bunch of rectifiers, capacitors, relays and other simple electronics on there, no ICs. I've checked all and it appears to be fine.
Yet, no success on starting the thing.
Anybody here have experience servicing this particular device?
Thanks in advance

I have bo experience with this equipment
but there are common faults in general,
first thing to do is to try and find yourself a user manual,
then post here a photo' of the power supply area,

Can you post photographs of the power supply board (both sides)?
If the machine is not ancient, it is likely it also needs a PC and software to operate it.

Basic check: have you measured the outs of the power control circuitry without any load attached to it?
Such boards may switch of if they detect a shortcut on their outs.
