Local Catalyst Concentration & Reaction Rate
I came across this article:
http://suschem.uva.nl/news-events/content5/2014/09/homogenou...
They took a small amount of catalyst that would be so small that a reaction would barely happen, and concentrated it inside of microspheres to make
'local catalyst concentration' extremely high. This in turn caused the Turnover Frequency for the catalyst to go way up, making it essentially react
much faster.
How does concetrating a catalyst into a small space like this have such a significant effect on the reaction, when the bulk conditions are unchanged?
I searched into this for the past few days and couldn't find much information about Local Catalyst Concentration and reaction rates.
