Making a metal-burning battery

So I want ZnO for glaze/glass flux (with a tinge of Co or Mn, it makes wonderful crystalline (Zn2SiO4) patterns! :D), how to make it? And instead of wasting the potential energy there, why not burn it electrochemically and run say a chlorate cell with the energy?

Any thoughts on electrolyte, electrode geometry, expected current density etc?
