A bit late, but here is one great idea:
Leuco dye (Wiki)
Make your own leuco dye if possible. I am also interested in this dyes, so any reference to procedures/patents is welcome.
Also, it seems that no one has yet figured out how to UV protect this dyes. Making this dyes change color for many years under the direct sun could be
very beneficial in some applications.
