Cinnamaldehyde in lavender
Hello.
I recently noticed a strange thing - we were grilling and I decided to put some lavender on the burning coal to release the aroma.
But instead of the lavender aroma, all I could smell was cinnamaldehyde, which I didn't notice before, I didn't even know it was present in lavender.
Is the cinnamal naturally present in the lavender, but is blocked by other smells, or did the heat cause the plant to create it?
I would like to try to extract it, I love the smell.

This does not explain the presence of cinnamaldehyde. I don't think its smell can be confused with smell of any terpenes.
Is it possible that the plants created it because they were in stress? (Heat)
