I have a collegue that is finishing her PhD and we want to buy her some graduation gifts.
Info:

- decided to go and teach biology and chemistry in highschool
Could you please give me some suggestions?

It depends on which country you are in and how close you are to that person.
I even know of different traditions between various universities.
The devil is in the detail.
As always a bottle of bubbly and flowers is nice. But not very personal.
Think back through the years you have known this person and if you have
had any particularly special or fun times together.
Something that reminds you of that might be nice as a sentimental token.
I know it is difficult. But have fun with it, just not too much.
Good luck
If it ain't broke don't fix it....
Now where are my screwdrivers?

I'm in Germany at the moment. I am not aware of any traditions at the university I am at the moment.
I agree it has to be something more personal, but I thought maybe someone has received or offered something interesting, funny, that I could adapt to
this situation or that could give me ideas about something similar.
However, the 'bottle of bubbly and flowers' are the must
Thank you very much!

It also depends very much on how much money you can afford to spend.
You can sometimes find very nice old scientific illustrations or instruments in antique shops which I think would make great gifts for such an
occasion.

You could get her a copy of The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments, the original print is highly collectible.
