peroxide from ammonium persulphate
Hi
I came across something interesting – wikipedia mentions that hydrogen peroxide can be produced by hydrolyzing ammonium persulfate.
Do you know how this process works? And has anyone successfully done this before?
thanks for any feedback.

Yes, reaction with H2O steam. I posten an article in German few years ago, there was no interest. If there is interest now I can find it again. I
believe a special apparatus is required because H2O2 should be condensed from a vapor phase.

I hope you're not using Gemini as a reliable source of information. It isn't. Don't trust that thing.
Before you go playing around with hot diprotium monoxide and vapors of hydrogen peroxide, take a look at Bretherick's (3rd edition, page 1149, here at
Internet Archive; you need an account to borrow, account is free).
I'm linking some articles on the production of hydrogen peroxide using ammonium persulfate. Do not attempt to
replicate the experiments without sufficient preparation and knowledge and the required special equipment. Otherwise, there's a good
chance your laboratory will suffer a macromolecular rearrangement, probably with some bits of you taking part in the process.

from wikipedia page on peroxide:

Historical methods
Hydrogen peroxide was once prepared industrially by hydrolysis of ammonium persulfate:
[NH4]2S2O8 + 2 H2O → 2 [NH4]HSO4 + H2O2
[NH4]2S2O8 was itself obtained by the electrolysis of a solution of ammonium bisulfate ([NH4]HSO4) in sulfuric acid.

I guess you need very pure water, very pure persulfate and very pure glass to get something useful from this method. But you can use persulfate as it
is, in some cases it can be used instead of H2O2, depending of what you need to do with H2O2.
( I hope you understand that just dissolving persulfate in water will not give you H2O2, you need some way to drive this reaction to the right
direction ).
Hydrogen peroxide is: HO - OH
Persulfate ion is: [(SO3)O-O(SO3)]2-
If you can live with (SO3) why separate it.
Consider also buying H2O2 solution.
